Odisha: Congress announces candidates for four assembly seats

Bhubaneswar: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has announced its picks for four additional Assembly seats in Odisha. Debendra Kumar Sahoo will contest from Mahanga, Prakash Chandra Jena in Bhubaneswar Central, and Ashok Kumar Das in Bhubaneswar North. Meanwhile, Manoj Rath has been nominated for the Satyabadi Assembly segment, which witnessed veteran Congress leader Prasad Harichandan as the nominee of the grand old party since 1995. 

Notably, Harichandan has decided not to run this time, opening the path for Manoj Rath’s candidacy. Rath, who recently joined the Congress party six months ago, is the son of Biswanath Rath, the BJP nominee for the same constituency in the 2014 elections. It’s worth mentioning that in the 2019 elections, former PCC president  Harichandan lost his deposit in Satyabadi.
