PRSI Bhubaneswar Conducts Roundtable ‘Celebrating Women In Communication’

Bhubaneswar: On the eve of International Women’s Day 2024, the Bhubaneswar Chapter of the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) organized a roundtable discussion focused on the theme ‘Celebrating Women in Communication’, mirroring this year’s International Women’s Day theme of ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’.

During the event, Rupali Kar, AGM of PR, Media, and Corporate Communication at JSW, emphasized the pivotal role women play in nurturing the next generation. She articulated the importance of ensuring that young girls within the workforce experience fulfillment, contentment, and minimal stress, ultimately empowering them to pursue their aspirations freely. Kar highlighted the societal imperative of fostering happiness and confidence among girls from a young age, nurturing a resilient spirit that emboldens them to assert themselves and embrace technological advancements in the field of communication.

Lagna Pany, CHRO at CSM Technologies, shared insights from her experience as an HR leader, debunking the stereotype that corporate environments excel primarily in HR and marketing due to their innate compassion and sensitivity.

Pany lauded the remarkable contributions of women in public relations, media, and strategic communication, underscoring their adeptness in connecting with people on a profound level.

Nilanjana Mukherjee, Managing Director of Kalinga Hospital, served as a guest speaker and drew attention to the communication deficiencies prevalent in the healthcare sector. Mukherjee emphasized the critical need for enhanced communication skills among healthcare professionals, particularly in navigating the emotional dynamics inherent in patient interactions. She advocated for gender-neutral policies and practices within the healthcare domain, emphasizing equality and inclusivity.

Shashank Pattnaik, Chairman of PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the significance of fostering equality and gender sensitivity in the workplace, while also highlighting the exemplary leadership of women in communication.

During the roundtable discussion, the former Chairman of PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter traced the evolution of public communication from ancient methods like smoke signals to contemporary strategies. He cited the influential example of Rosa Parks, whose quiet defiance catalyzed the civil rights movement in the United States, underscoring the power of strategic communication in effecting social change.

The event was meticulously coordinated by Amtrita Kundu, a member of PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter, while Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, the Secretary of PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter, extended gratitude in the vote of thanks.
