Tata Steel Foundation‘s Udaan-2024: Farmers And Scientists Discuss About Innovation In Agriculture
Berhampur: On the final day of Udaan, a community engagement program organized by the Tata Steel Foundation, farmers and scientists collaborated to explore innovations in climate-resilient agriculture. The event featured thematic sessions led by experts including Dr. Sukant Kumar Sarangi from ICAR-CIWA, Dr. Biswanath Sahoo from ICAR-CIWA, Dr. Siddharth Sankar Das from KVK Ganjam, Ajit Kumar Panigrahi, and Rakesh Roshan Behera.
This year, the program aimed not only to share success stories but also to promote a climate-resilient mindset with a focus on disaster risk reduction. A total of 328 farmers participated and outstanding farmers were felicitated during the proceedings.
Rockey Martin, Head of TSF Gopalpur, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to fostering climate resilience and addressing disaster risks in peripheral areas over the next five years. Additionally, sessions were conducted on women’s involvement in dairy farming, enterprises, and financial inclusion, led by Harapriya Das from OMTDC and Priyabrat Taria from GGGMU.
During the inaugural ceremony on February 23rd, the Jyoti Fellowship was awarded to 544 deserving students from economically disadvantaged SC/ST backgrounds. Women Self-Help Group (SHG) members and adolescent girls from surrounding villages also gathered to discuss issues pertaining to climate resilience.
