Chennai: A man identified as a ‘gym trainer’ has been arrested by Chennai police under suspicion of orchestrating the death of an individual resembling him in order to fraudulently claim insurance money. The authorities have disclosed that two additional associates of the accused, referred to as ‘Jim Trainer,’ have also been arrested in connection with the alleged murder conspiracy.
According to the police report, the 38-year-old ‘gym trainer’ named Suresh, residing at Ayanavaram , falsely declared his own demise in September 2023 with the intention of securing a Rs 1 crore insurance payout for his family. However, Suresh’s plan was thwarted when the police classified the case as suicide prompting the insurance company to deny the claim.
As per the investigation findings, Suresh and his two accomplices embarked on a search to find an individual resembling Suresh’s features. After careful consideration, they selected a man named Dillibabu, who was already residing as a tenant in Suresh’s residence. Dillibabu’s facial features closely resembled those of Suresh, making him the chosen candidate for their scheme.
