Arun Kumar Sarangi In-charge DGP of Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Senior IPS officer Arun Kumar Sarangi has assumed an additional responsibility as the Director General of Police (DG) in Odisha, with this interim role effective until a regular DGP is appointed.
The Home department’s notification today stated that Arun Kumar Sarangi, presently serving as the Special DG of Police, Training, and Director of Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA), will continue to hold the additional charge of DG of Police in Odisha until a permanent DGP is appointed.
A 1990 batch officer, Arun Kumar Sarangi, along with Sudhanshu Sarangi and YB Khurania, both from the same batch, was promoted to the rank of Director General of Police on May 3, 2023. Presently, he is serving in a dual capacity as the Special DG of Police, Training, and the Director of BPSPA.
It’s worth noting that the current DGP, Sunil Kumar Bansal, is scheduled to retire from government service on December 31. The Odisha government had previously approved his retirement, paving the way for Arun Kumar Sarangi to take on the additional responsibility as DG of Police.
