Paradeep: Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has successfully implemented a sustainable initiative by introducing solar powered streetlights in Musadia village, located in the Nuagarh panchayat of Paradeep. This innovative project, named ‘Ujjwala’ under the CSR wing of AM/NS India, aims to enhance the quality of life for over 1500 villagers while prioritizing their safety and convenience.
In the initial phase of the ‘Ujjwala’ project, AM/NS India has installed 19 solar-powered streetlights in Musadia. Going forward, the company plans to extend this initiative to Balidia, Handia, Paradeepgarh, Bimanasi, and Chakradharpur villages. The utilization of solar energy not only aligns with environmental sustainability but also ensures energy conservation, reducing dependence on conventional grid power.
The inauguration of the solar streetlights in Musadia took place in the presence of local residents, representatives, and Dr. Vikash Yadvendu, Head CSR at AM/NS India. Mr. Suresha G, Executive Director, Odisha Operations, AM/NS India, emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering comprehensive development in the communities where it operates. He highlighted the importance of prioritizing the safety and well-being of employees, partners, and the local community.
The solar streetlights are poised to enhance safety for commuters during nighttime hours, contributing to the overall comfort and well-being of the residents. AM/NS India expresses its anticipation for the active cooperation of nearby villages in the successful implementation of various developmental projects actively pursued by the company.
