Bhadrak : In an endeavor to actively involve communities in promoting football as a catalyst for social transformation, the ProSocio Sports and Games Federation organized a ‘Winter Football Carnival’ at Mahavir Field in Purana Bazaar, Bhadrak, on Christmas Day.
More than 90 school children, aged under 15, participated in the day-long competition representing 10 different schools from the local area. The primary objective of the Football Carnival was to identify football talents among these young participants and establish a year-long coaching program to nurture a sustainable football ecosystem. These identified talents would then receive advanced coaching from certified coaches associated with the Football Association of Odisha.
The event was graced by members from Young Indians, Bhubaneswar chapter, who acted as Guests of Honour and presented prizes to the participants. Expressing surprise and delight, one of the social activists and football patrons, Sk Farooq of Rovers Club, commented on the significant participation of girls in football. He highlighted the encouraging aspect of parents accompanying their daughters and expressed hope that this initiative would bring more female players to the forefront, serving as an agent of positive change.
The Football Carnival received support from various organizations, including the Gopal Krushna Mohapatra Foundation, the Football Association of Odisha, and the Bhadrak District Athletic Association, contributing to the successful execution of the event.
