Bhubaneswar: Upon the directive of Odisha Chief Minister Sri Naveen Patnaik, V.K. Pandian, Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha, undertook a visit to Ganjam District to assess the progress of various development initiatives and engage with diverse stakeholders, including students, farmers and members of the Mission Shakti Group.
During his visit, Pandian reviewed the ongoing Maa Budhi Thakurani Temple transformation project in Berhampur, with an allocated budget of Rs 18.91 Cr. He also scrutinized the ongoing transformation work at Khambeya Dora Junior Science College, Pochilima, in Hinjilicut Block, which is budgeted at Rs. 1.71 Cr.
Participating in the Nua-Omega Program at the Mini Stadium, Hinjilicut, Pandian interacted with students from various colleges in Hinjilicut Municipality, Hinjilicut Block, and Sheragada BlockHe highlighted the program’s role in providing a platform for young individuals to showcase their talents, fostering overall personality development alongside academic achievements..
Subsequently, in Hinjilicut, Pandian paid homage to the statue of Prabadpurusha Biju Patnaik and visited the Rural Industrial Park of Sheragada, engaging with Mission Shakti members and discussing various livelihood projects underway. Emphasizing the five major benefits extended by the Hon’ble Chief Minister for women, he underscored the importance of initiatives such as the LACCMI Bus ticket at Rs. 5, meals at Aahaar Kendras for Rs. 5, Rs. 5000 financial support for pregnant and lactating mothers under the MAMATA Yojana, interest-free loans up to Rs. 5 Lakhs for Mission Shakti Groups, and an additional Rs. 5 Lakhs for women beneficiaries, totaling Rs. 10 Lakhs for BSKY beneficiaries.
Pandian interacted with the farmers in Sheragada and Hinjilicut Block, discussing additional irrigation facilities aimed at boosting farmers’ income and preventing distress migration. He revealed plans for irrigating an additional 12,000 acres of land at a cost of 186.5 Crs, covering 65 irrigation projects across 21 GP’s in Sheragada Block, benefiting 10,000 farmers.
Similarly, 1535 acres will be brought under irrigation at a cost of 20.45 Crs, covering 37 projects across 14 GPs in Hinjilicut Block, benefiting 2000 farmers. Pandian urged officials to ensure timely completion of these projects.
Throughout his visit, Pandian received a warm welcome from the local residents and leaders.
