Bhubaneswar: Continuing its pursuit of enhancing quality standards and ensuring patient safety, SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) achieved another milestone by attaining the Joint Commission International (JCI) Prime certification on Wednesday. The certification event took place on the hospital premises with the support of Becton, Dickinson and Co (BD), a leading medical technology company.
SUMUM proudly stands as the first hospital in Odisha to earn this certification, marking a commendable 98.4 percent compliance rate upon successful program completion. The event witnessed the presence of consultants, nursing and pharmacy team members, department heads, and representatives from BD, including Dr. Pankaj Raina, its Medical Affairs Leader-India and South Asia.
The JCI Prime program was inaugurated at the hospital in 2022, with active participation from the infection control department, nursing and pharmacy teams, in-patient services team, and the quality management system, all working collaboratively under top management’s guidance and support.
Following the certification ceremony, an academic session ensued, focusing on topics such as ‘Invasive Fungal Infection in ICU’ and ‘Infection Control Care Bundle’. These sessions were led by Dr. Anand Mishra and Dr. Arun Rath, both Senior Consultants in Critical Care Medicine.
