- Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, Ashok Parija felicitated
Bhubaneswar: The reunion of ‘BJB Friends’, a students’ association of BJB Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar, was held on December 17.Following a torch procession led by members of BJB Friends, commencing from Barunei Hills and concluding at BJB College, floral tributes were paid to Baxi Jagabandhu and Mahatma Gandhi within the college premises.
Distinguished alumni of BJB College, including Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, the acting Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, Ashok Parija, the Advocate General of Odisha, Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister of Science and Technology, Amar Patnaik, a Rajya Sabha member, and Harun Rashid Khan, former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, along with former Odisha Assembly Deputy Speaker Bibhuti Bhusan Singh Mardaraj, inaugurated the festivities by lighting lamps.
During the opening ceremonies, Debasis Patnaik, the President of ‘BJB Friends,’ extended the welcome address, while Secretary Satyabrat Dhupal presented the annual report. Acting chief justice of Odisha HC Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi and advocate general Ashok Parija, were felicitated by BJB Friends for their remarkable accomplishments in their respective careers.
Outstanding students who achieved the highest marks in arts, science, and commerce at BJB College this year received recognition, and Vishal Parija received a special trophy for his all-encompassing performance. The winners of the quiz competition held on December 2 were also acknowledged.
The association unveiled its 2023 souvenir, and a variety of cultural programs enriched the celebration. BJB Friends Vice President Mr. Raj Kishore Chowdhury, along with Shyamsundar Patnaik, Kedar Patnaik, senior lawyers Manoj Mishra and Sivananda Roy, Ashok Patnaik, Chitra Kanungo, Siddharth Shekhar Singh, Subhadarsini Mishra, Cini Mohanty, Pinky Pradhan, and numerous alumni, participated in the reunion, rekindling cherished memories of their college days.
