Kolkata: Kolkata marked the commencement of festivities for the upcoming Tata Steel Kolkata 25K, one of India’s prominent running festivals, set to take place on Sunday, December 17. The countdown celebrations kicked off against the majestic backdrop of the iconic Victoria Memorial in Kolkata. As a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race and the sole AIMS-accredited 25K course, the event is meticulously designed to showcase some of the city’s grand landmarks, including Eden Gardens, Victoria Memorial, Park Street, Vidya Sagar Setu, James Prinsep Ghat, and Fort Williams Golf. The race will start and finish at the iconic Red Road.
Although the pulse of the event resonates in Kolkata, its excitement extends far beyond the city limits. Registrations for this USD 100,000 prize money event are ongoing with a remarkable response from the running community. The feature races, including the 25K, 10K, and the Silvers’ Run, have surpassed expectations and are now oversubscribed. For those interested, registrations for the Ananda Run and Champions with Disability remain open until November 30, IST 11:59 p.m., or until running places are filled, whichever comes earlier.
The eighth edition of the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K promises to attract world-class athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and amateurs alike. The participants will be cheered on by notable figures such as World Champion Hurdler and International Event Ambassador Colin Jackson, along with Ratnas Jhulan Goswami and Koushani Mukherjee, adding to the excitement and prestige of the event.
