Bhubaneswar: Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), a leading steelmaker, has been honoured with the prestigious Greentech CSR India Award 2023 for its remarkable efforts in the rehabilitation and empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The Greentech Foundation presented this coveted award, acknowledging JSP’s dedication to fostering inclusivity and accessibility in society through impactful CSR initiatives.
Expressing gratitude for the achievement, Smt. Shallu Jindal, Chairperson of the JSP Foundation, stated, “We are deeply honoured to receive this prestigious award. Our belief in the transformative power of inclusive practices is validated by this recognition, affirming our commitment to building a society where everyone, regardless of their abilities, enjoys equal opportunities. We remain steadfast in pushing boundaries and creating a lasting positive impact,” she added, thanking the jury for the honor.
JSP, operating through its CSR arm, the JSP Foundation, has been running Jindal Asha (formerly known as Asha the Hope) in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand since 2009. These centers have significantly improved the quality of life for persons with disabilities, offering state –of- the- art rehabilitation services such as early intervention, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, special education, speech therapy, audiometry, music and recreational therapy, counseling, guidance services, skill development training, and more. These initiatives aim to empower individuals with disabilities to lead independent lives.
The impact of these efforts is evident, with over 5,500 differently-abled children benefiting from support for cognitive, social, and psychological development, along with opportunities for skill development and special education. Additionally, the center-based facilities provide daycare-mode rehabilitation services to nearly 250 children with disabilities annually, offering free transportation from their homes to the center. The JSP Foundation consistently provides health care support, device support, and nutritional assistance to over 1,000 children with special needs every year.
In the previous year, the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs recognized JSP with the National CSR Award in two categories, including a contribution to National Priority Areas (Support to Differently Abled). Furthermore, the company received the CSR Journal Excellence Award 2022 for its commendable intervention in this sphere.
