Berhampur: Recently the news regarding the arrival of an Israeli Expert in the silk city had created a buzz. At the time when there was a conflict between Israel and Hamas, the visit of Israeli expert had made the residents utterly curious.
However their curiosity was satisfied when it was revealed that the World Bank’s OIIPCRA team had visited the Jalshakti Kendra in the MI office at Berhampur to implement the Israeli irrigation model plan in agricultural fields, aiming to increase the command area through efficient use of water in irrigation in Ganjam district.
The experts Mr. Leo, an Israeli agricultural specialist, and GIS expert Mr. Hitesh Thakur had a meeting with the superintending engineer of Ganjam-I minor irrigation division. The Israeli experts deliberated on the agricultural system in Israel and discussed specific recommendations for effective water management in drought prone areas in the district.
