Dalmia Cement Wins The Esteemed CII CAP 2.0o Award For Exemplary Climate Resilience

New Delhi : Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), a prominent player in India’s cement industry, has been honored with the esteemed Climate Action Programme (CAP 2.0) Award, 4th Edition, by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). This prestigious accolade underscores DCBL’s unwavering commitment to climate resilience and sustainability, along with its innovative corporate initiatives aimed at combating climate change. The award was presented by Shri Dinesh Dayanand Jagdale, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.

The CAP 2.0 initiative, spearheaded by the CII-ITC Center for Excellence for Sustainable Development, seeks to recognize and promote meaningful corporate endeavors addressing climate change. By embedding climate action into their business models, this initiative champions sustainable practices across various industries.

DCBL’s dedication to sustainability is evident in its innovative approach to climate action. Through strategic partnerships and efficient resource utilization, the company demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, guided by its business philosophy of “Clean and Green is Profitable and Sustainable”. Dalmia Cement has achieved one of the lowest carbon footprints globally in the cement sector, with CO2 emissions at 463kg per ton FY23. It is also the first cement group committed to achieving carbon negativity by 2040.

Moreover, the company leads in the production of slag cement in India, boasting an impressive 84% blending ratio. It has spearheaded the utilization of recycled waste in cement kilns and has embarked on the transition to electric vehicles by joining EV100, thereby becoming the first globally to triple join RE100, EP100, and EV100 initiatives. Additionally, the company achieved a water positivity ratio of 14 times in FY23.
