Cuttack: In a significant development, the specialized squad of the Commissionerate Police has made a breakthrough by apprehending the alleged mastermind behind an arms smuggling network operating in Cuttack. Known as Golden Singh, he was captured alongside his accomplice, Wasim Khan, in the Munger region of Bihar. During the operation, the police confiscated three pistols and two live bullets from Singh’s possession.
Earlier, authorities had detained four individuals suspected of being involved in arms trafficking. Subsequent investigations unveiled that the firearms originated from Munger, Bihar. A dedicated team was promptly dispatched to Munger, where, with the assistance of Bihar’s Special Task Force (STF), Golden Singh was apprehended.
Additionally, Wasim Khan, who hails from Cuttack’s Kesharpur area, was also taken into custody. Kanwar Vishal Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Cuttack, revealed, “Following the earlier dismantling of the local crime syndicate, our investigations led us to Munger, Bihar. Through collaborative efforts with the Bihar STF, we successfully apprehended Golden Singh, who was the primary supplier of firearms to Cuttack and nearby districts.”
