Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Naveen today laid the foundation stone for the corporate office of Odisha Mining Corporation at Jayadev Vihar in Bhubaneswar. Spanning 6 acres, this platinum-rated green building is poised to become a prominent landmark in the city. The architectural design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also promises to enhance the overall beauty of the cityscape. In addition to this corporate office, the Chief Minister inaugurated the foundation for the Drill Core Library.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister initiated the establishment of 5 Odisha Mining Adarsh Vidyalayas and inaugurated 7 Quality Control Labs, 10 Sample Processing Units, and a Chrome Ore Beneficiation Plant of OMC. Additionally, he flagged off 6 Mobile Health Units.
During his address, Chief Minister Shri Patnaik congratulated the OMC for its exemplary role in contributing not only to the economy but also to sustainable mining practices. He commended the corporation for its people-centric development and welfare activities, emphasizing its positive impact on the community.
The Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction with OMC’s initiatives, including the establishment of CBSE-affiliated fully residential schools in mining areas and the Mobile Health Unit, which brings healthcare facilities to the doorstep of villagers in operational areas.
Acknowledging the significance of the Chrome Ore Beneficiation Plant and Quality Control Laboratories, the Chief Minister highlighted their crucial role in ensuring transparency and the prompt dispatch of quality raw materials to user industries.
Discussing OMC’s achievements in the mining sector, he emphasized Odisha’s leading role in adopting cutting-edge technology and sustainable mining practices. He urged the mining fraternity to embrace international benchmarks for sustainable mining.
Highlighting OMC’s impressive performance, the Chief Minister noted that the corporation produced over 30 million tons of ores in the last fiscal year, achieving a turnover of over Rs. 14 thousand crores. He proudly announced that OMC is now the fourth-largest mining company in the country.
Expressing gratitude for OMC’s support during the Covid pandemic, the Chief Minister wished the corporation continued success and global recognition.
Steel and Mines Minister Shri Prafulla Mallick commended the Chief Minister’s visionary leadership, recognizing his role in elevating Odisha through a rapid transformation process. The welcome address was delivered by Addl Chief Secretary, Steel & Mines, Shri DK Singh, and the vote of thanks was proposed by MD OMC Shri Balwant Singh.
