Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) at Infovalley Bhubaneswar on Thursday. Established by the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal Trust(SVKM), NMIMS is a prominent management institute in the country. To spread 40 acres of land provided by the state government, the institute will allocate 30 percent of its seats to meritorious students from Odisha.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted Odisha’s recent advancements in various socio-economic aspects, transforming it into one of the nation’s fastest-growing economies. The state’s elevated economic status has created abundant opportunities to attract talent from both India and around the world.
Emphasizing India’s global economic standing as the fifth-largest and poised to become the third-largest in the coming years, the Chief Minister attributed this growth to the country’s youthful workforce. He expressed the belief that the youth are a vital strength, asset, and hope for the future, contributing significantly to India’s position in the global economy. He credited Indian management institutes for producing numerous global CEOs and management thinkers, noting their quality education and adherence to Indian values.
Acknowledging the substantial increase in the popularity of management as a profession, he credited both private business schools and premier government-run institutes for meeting the demand. Shifting focus to Odisha, he commended the state’s progress in higher education since 2000, citing the establishment of new universities, expanded course offerings, and improved infrastructure across various streams of education.

Highlighting the state’s exponential growth in higher education through initiatives like 5T, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that NMIMS would enhance the educational landscape in Odisha and contribute to societal causes. Higher Education Minister Shri Atanu Sabyasachi praised the Chief Minister’s vision, noting that top institutes in higher education are now establishing centers in Odisha. The event was graced by 5T and Nabin Odisha chairman Shri VK Pandian, Jatani MLA Shri Suresh Kumar Routray, and President of SVKM Trust Shri Amrish Patel, among others.
