Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made significant strides today by announcing its candidates for six assembly constituencies in Odisha. Among the nominees, Shambhunath Rout emerges as the contender for the Ghasipura assembly seat, while Ashish Patra and Sudhanshu Nayak will vie for victory in Bhograi and Bhandaripokhari, respectively. Adding to the roster, Umesh Chandra Jena will represent the party from the Bari constituency, Dr. Purnachandra Mohapatra from Barabati-Cuttack, and Prakash Chandra Ranabijuli from Begunia assembly constituency.
Notably, Dr. Purnachandra Mohapatra, a renowned figure in the medical field and initially speculated as a potential Cuttack Lok Sabha candidate, has been designated as the MLA candidate for Barabati-Cuttack, underscoring BJP’s strategic nominations.
With this announcement, BJP has disclosed 146 MLA candidates, nearing a full slate, while the ruling BJD has already declared all 147 MLA candidates. However, BJP’s candidate for the Nilagiri constituency remains pending, leaving a notable gap in their lineup.
