Bhubaneswar: V. K. Pandian, Chairman of 5T, and Nabin Odisha conducted a thorough inspection today at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), Baramunda. The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress of various ongoing initiatives aimed at ensuring the timely completion of this pivotal project. Once finished, the ISBT in Baramunda will serve as a crucial transit hub, benefiting the residents of Odisha as well as those from other states.
During the visit, Pandian took a keen interest in the well-being of commuters and inquired about the comfort facilities available. He sought information on aspects such as waiting areas, sanitation facilities, bus capacity, the upcoming Ahaar center, proper illumination, and the provision of toilets. Emphasizing the need for smart, IT-driven infrastructure, Pandian also encouraged the development of a creative ambiance that incorporates local art for travelers.
Pandian further urged the involved agencies to make arrangements for idle bus parking, dormitories for bus drivers, and ample parking spaces for autorickshaws, taxis, and two-wheelers to cater to the needs of visitors. He stressed the importance of involving all stakeholders, including taxi associations, bus owners’ associations, and OSRTC.

In attendance during the visit were BDA VC Balwant Singh, officials from Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), BDA, and the construction partner agency Bridge and Roof Company (India) Limited. Pandian instructed officials to expedite the completion of all ongoing construction activities, particularly those in the finishing stages, by the year’s end.
The ISBT Baramunda project, under the purview of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and spanning 15.5 acres, aims to provide a range of facilities. These include amenities for passenger convenience, office spaces, parking facilities, a food court, restaurant, and commercial spaces. Pandian was briefed on the execution plan, emphasizing the significance of achieving timely milestones for the project to establish a world-class transit infrastructure in the capital city.
